News – National Training Day (May. 25, 2015)
Many Members from the betting Industry attended our training session in Bewley’s Hotel, which was organised by The Irish Bookmakers Association. This session was focused on how to assist the various types of personalities that might face staff in betting shops, and ensure that the customer in question is given the relevant information and Dunlewey details in the most discreet, professional and efficient way possible.
Not all problem gamblers present themselves or their signs of problem gambling in the same way. Staff need to be prepared for all types of personalities, and ensure the safety of themselves and their customers at all times. Our training session focused on the various situations that both the customer and the staff might come across, and how to handle the situation in the most discrete and helpful way.
With feedback from the industry, various aspects of current practices were discussed, and some great ideas were given for how it could be improved going forward.
The Dunlewey Addiction Centre provides regular training sessions for people who may work with people affected by problem gambling. If you would like to get involved or find out any further information on our training sessions, please feel free to get in touch.
